Grape Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average grape export price amounted to $2,243 per ton, which is down by -5.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 39%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,370 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Oman ($2,243 per ton) and Slovenia ($2,243 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($2,243 per ton) and Malaysia ($2,243 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average grape import price amounted to $2,375 per ton, reducing by -2.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted a tangible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,438 per ton in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($2,375 per ton), while the price for South Africa totaled $2,375 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+34.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Grape Exports in Egypt
Grape exports from Egypt shrank slightly to 107K tons in 2022, remaining constant against 2021. Overall, exports saw a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by less than 0.1% against the previous year.
In value terms, grape exports declined to $239M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 7.9%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $254M, and then fell in the following year.

Grape Imports in Egypt
For the fourth consecutive year, Egypt recorded growth in overseas purchases of grapes, which increased by 17% to 2.6K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, grape imports expanded notably to $6.1M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.5% against 2019 indices.
