The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $1.1B. From 2017 to 2022, global production growth remained at a lower figure.
Production By Country
The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were the United States (224K tons), Italy (162K tons) and Spain (150K tons), with a combined 62% share of global production. Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Iran lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of production, amongst the main producing countries, was attained by Iran (with a CAGR of +8.1%), while production for the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the production figures.

In 2022, approx. 242K tons of grape juice (single strength) were imported worldwide; dropping by -23.8% compared with the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure at 373K tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, grape juice (single strength) imports reduced to $187M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 19%. Global imports peaked at $260M in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports By Country
Germany was the major importer of grape juice (single strength) in the world, with the volume of imports finishing at 74K tons, which was near 31% of total imports in 2022. Italy (23K tons) took a 9.5% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Austria (8.6%), Israel (8%) and France (7.8%). In value terms, Germany ($44M) constitutes the largest market for imported grape juice (single strength) worldwide, comprising 23% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($14M), with a 7.5% share of global imports. It was followed by France, with a 6.2% share.
In Germany, grape juice (single strength) imports contracted by an average annual rate of -5.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+16.5% per year) and France (-10.8% per year).

In 2022, approx. 289K tons of grape juice (single strength) were exported worldwide; which is down by -13.3% against 2021. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs at 333K tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, grape juice (single strength) exports dropped to $194M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a slight curtailment. By contrast, Germany (-7.7%) and the United States (-8.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Italy ($71M) remains the largest grape juice (single strength) supplier worldwide, comprising 36% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($35M), with an 18% share of global exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 9.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Italy amounted to -2.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Spain (+1.5% per year) and the United States (-2.3% per year).
Export Prices By Country
