In January 2023, the average garlic import price amounted to $1,816 per ton, declining by -4.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 118% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,384 per ton. From December 2022 to January 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($1,847 per ton), while the price for Peru stood at $1,666 per ton.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+42.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Garlic Price in Mexico (FOB) - 2023
The average garlic export price stood at $2,146 per ton in June 2023, surging by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 110% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,130 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

Garlic Imports in Mexico
