In 2022, the average frozen eels export price amounted to $7,387 per ton, with a decrease of -40.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $12,465 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Korea.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to +11.8% per year.
Frozen Eels Exports in Tunisia
In 2022, shipments abroad of frozen eels increased by 86% to 22 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, showed a drastic downturn.
In value terms, frozen eels exports expanded rapidly to $159K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant decline.
