Dried Grapes Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023

The average dried grapes import price stood at $1,947 per ton in August 2023, with a decrease of -6% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,078 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Australia ($3,389 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,659 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Dried Grapes Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023

The average dried grapes export price stood at $2,109 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 43% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 155% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,478 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($3,433 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dried Grapes Imports in Italy

In 2022, approx. 18K tons of dried grapes were imported into Italy; which is down by -19.6% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 23K tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, dried grapes imports shrank dramatically to $34M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year.

Dried Grapes Exports in Italy

In 2022, exports of dried grapes from Italy skyrocketed to 1.2K tons, growing by 16% compared with the previous year. Overall, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +21.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -9.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 99% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.3K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -34.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 94% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.9M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
