Copper Wire Price in Portugal (CIF) - 2023

The average copper wire import price stood at $9,539 per ton in August 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 6% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $10,001 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($10,888 per ton) and Belgium ($9,531 per ton), while the price for Italy ($9,206 per ton) and Spain ($9,490 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average copper wire export price stood at $10,408 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated modest growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, copper wire export price increased by +7.8% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 141% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $15,283 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
