Commercial Printing Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022

In January 2022, the average commercial printing export price amounted to $24,437 per ton, which is down by -48.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2021 an increase of 262% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $47,518 per ton, and then reduced markedly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($44,439 per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($1,670 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average commercial printing import price stood at $6,192 per ton in 2022, which is down by -10% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, commercial printing import price increased by +63.2% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 23% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $6,883 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($36,206 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,783 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+21.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Commercial Printing Exports in Russia

In 2022, shipments abroad of commercial printing (except screen and books) decreased by -0.8% to 35K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -14.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 56% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 41K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, commercial printing exports declined modestly to $522M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +78.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 74% against the previous year.

In value terms, commercial printing imports fell to $385M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $419M, and then dropped in the following year.
