Coffee Substitutes Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average coffee substitutes export price stood at $5,093 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a perceptible increase from July 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, coffee substitutes export price increased by +32.2% against December 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 42% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $6,213 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Cuba ($12,164 per ton), while the average price for exports to New Zealand ($2,818 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cuba (+41.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average coffee substitutes import price stood at $4,543 per ton in 2022, falling by -17.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 49% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,614 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($11,821 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,983 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
