Cinnamon Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average cinnamon export price stood at $6,447 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -5.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 16% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $6,815 per ton in May 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($9,502 per ton), while the average price for exports to Trinidad and Tobago ($4,315 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cinnamon Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average cinnamon import price amounted to $4,262 per ton, surging by 4.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 15% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,495 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Madagascar ($7,055 per ton), while the price for France ($2,233 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Madagascar (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Cinnamon Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, approx. 3.7K tons of cinnamon (canella) were exported from the Netherlands; waning by -26.1% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9.8%.
In value terms, cinnamon exports fell rapidly to $23M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $32M, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
