Cinnamon Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022
The average cinnamon import price stood at $5,448 per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 46% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($6,083 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($782 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cinnamon Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022
The average cinnamon export price stood at $7,256 per ton in 2022, growing by 65% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 91%. The export price peaked at $9,342 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($13,011 per ton), while the average price for exports to Norway ($3,575 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+85.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cinnamon Imports in Thailand
In 2022, approx. 1.4K tons of cinnamon (canella) were imported into Thailand; with an increase of 14% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.6K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cinnamon imports amounted to $7.5M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $8.5M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Cinnamon Exports in Thailand
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of cinnamon (canella) decreased by -57.3% to 41 tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 164%.
In value terms, cinnamon exports shrank rapidly to $300K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 70%.
