Chewing Gum Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average chewing gum export price amounted to $2,311 per ton, increasing by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight curtailment. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,713 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($2,624 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($1,455 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Paraguay (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Chewing Gum Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average chewing gum import price amounted to $5,543 per ton, falling by -40.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 139% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $9,340 per ton, and then declined sharply in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($10,625 per ton), while the price for Japan ($3,617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Exports in Brazil
In 2022, approx. 7.1K tons of chewing gum were exported from Brazil; with a decrease of -10.5% on the previous year. In general, exports saw a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 38%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 8K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, chewing gum exports totaled $17M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
