Cherry Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average cherry export price stood at $5,179 per ton in November 2023, with an increase of 61% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $8,166 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Barbados ($15,479 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,900 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cherry Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average cherry import price amounted to $6,511 per ton, picking up by 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 32% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $6,699 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($8,244 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($5,236 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cherry Exports in the United States
In 2022, approx. 41K tons of cherries were exported from the United States; which is down by -44.7% on 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a sharp shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 16%.
In value terms, cherry exports dropped remarkably to $332M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt curtailment. The smallest decline of less than 0.1% was in 2020.
