Cheese Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2023
The average cheese export price stood at $4,970 per ton in June 2023, falling by -2.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $6,073 per ton. From February 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,876 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($4,511 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cheese Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average cheese import price amounted to $4,832 per ton, shrinking by -2.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 21% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,359 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($8,665 per ton), while the price for Poland ($2,935 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cheese Exports in Ireland
For the third consecutive year, Ireland recorded decline in overseas shipments of cheese, which decreased by -5.2% to 254K tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The smallest decline of -5.1% was in 2021.
In value terms, cheese exports stood at $1.3B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Cheese Imports in Ireland

Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 11%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 83K tons.
