Buckwheat Price in France (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average buckwheat import price amounted to $1,899 per ton, rising by 26% against the previous month. In general, the import price posted perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 120% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,135 per ton. From September 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,357 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($1,474 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Buckwheat Price in France (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average buckwheat export price amounted to $960 per ton, reducing by -15.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 150%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,761 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,300 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($778 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Buckwheat Imports in France
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of buckwheat decreased by -29.8% to 6.8K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 46% against the previous year.
In value terms, buckwheat imports reduced dramatically to $7.7M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 85%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $10M, and then reduced notably in the following year.
