Brown Rice Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average brown rice import price amounted to $1,339 per ton, waning by -5.5% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, brown rice import price decreased by -10.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 39%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,492 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,115 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($236 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+18.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average brown rice export price amounted to $689 per ton, shrinking by -23.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 49%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,381 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($1,817 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($426 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+28.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Brown Rice Imports in Kuwait

In 2022, brown rice imports into Kuwait stood at 414 tons, approximately equating the year before. In general, imports, however, faced a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 16%.

In value terms, brown rice imports declined modestly to $554K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 11%.

Brown rice exports from Kuwait dropped markedly to 47 tons in 2022, which is down by -22.5% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 410%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 61 tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, brown rice exports dropped markedly to $32K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 434%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $55K, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
