The average bovine animals; live import price stood at $1,057 per unit in July 2023, with an increase of 1.5% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. The import price peaked in July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,548 per unit), while the price for Latvia ($783 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average bovine animals; live export price stood at $1,361 per unit in August 2023, dropping by -3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 20% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,752 per unit; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($1,739 per unit), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,115 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
