Blueberry and Cranberry Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average blueberry and cranberry import price amounted to $18,164 per ton, rising by 2.8% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, blueberry and cranberry import price increased by +10.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 49%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $19,238 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for New Zealand.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for New Zealand amounted to +4.8% per year.

Blueberry and Cranberry Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023

In October 2023, the average blueberry and cranberry export price amounted to $13,019 per ton, waning by -21.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 48% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $41,455 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Hong Kong SAR ($13,884 per ton) and Indonesia ($13,492 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($12,081 per ton) and Thailand ($12,104 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (-3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Blueberry and Cranberry Imports in Australia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of blueberries and cranberries decreased by -17.8% to 1.2K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 6.1%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.6K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, blueberry and cranberry imports declined dramatically to $22M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 5.8% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $26M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
