Barley Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average barley import price amounted to $272 per ton, falling by -5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 9.3% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $341 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($377 per ton), while the price for the UK ($235 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Barley Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average barley export price stood at $309 per ton in August 2023, declining by -5.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 25% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $413 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($338 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany amounted to $287 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (-1.1%).
Barley Imports in the Netherlands
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of barley, when their volume decreased by -5.9% to 2.5M tons.
