The average argon import price stood at $1.4 per cubic meter in July 2023, dropping by -5.9% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated strong growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, argon import price decreased by -5.9% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 57% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1.7 per cubic meter in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Australia.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Australia amounted to +8.3% per month.

The average argon export price stood at $0.8 per cubic meter in 2022, with a decrease of -79.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a deep setback. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Fiji (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of argon into New Zealand surged to 1.4M cubic meters, growing by 147% on 2021 figures. In general, imports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
