Areca Nut Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average areca nut export price amounted to $1,296 per ton, with a decrease of -21.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, areca nut export price increased by +8.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 40% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,660 per ton in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Pakistan ($1,572 per ton) and Nepal ($1,568 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($1,092 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($1,249 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nepal (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average areca nut import price amounted to $2,787 per ton, surging by 645% against the previous year. Overall, the import price enjoyed a resilient expansion. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Saudi Arabia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Thailand amounted to +571.6% per year.
