Apricot Price in Spain (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average apricot export price amounted to $2,245 per ton, waning by -7.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 76% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,603 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($3,135 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,673 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apricot Price in Spain (CIF) - 2023
The average apricot import price stood at $1,757 per ton in June 2023, waning by -25.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 1,454% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $10,257 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,759 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($724 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apricot Exports in Spain
In 2022, shipments abroad of apricots decreased by -33.5% to 60K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 4% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 97K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, apricot exports contracted remarkably to $118M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 26%.
