Aluminium Wire Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023

The average aluminium wire import price stood at $3,835 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 16% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,734 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($27,455 per ton), while the price for India ($2,959 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average aluminium wire export price stood at $3,512 per ton in September 2023, falling by -5.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,817 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($5,080 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($2,822 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Aluminium Wire Imports in Thailand

In 2022, the amount of aluminium wires imported into Thailand declined to 6.8K tons, with a decrease of -7.8% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 26%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 7.4K tons, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium wire imports dropped notably to $24M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $28M, and then fell significantly in the following year.

Aluminium Wire Exports in Thailand

In 2022, the amount of aluminium wires exported from Thailand rose notably to 7.9K tons, growing by 13% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a pronounced downturn.

In value terms, aluminium wire exports rose modestly to $23M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced setback.
