The average alloy steel powders import price stood at $5,490 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 50% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated perceptible growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, alloy steel powders import price increased by +50.4% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 78% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,551 per ton. From February 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($12,563 per ton), while the price for France ($1,319 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Alloy Steel Powders Imports in Italy
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of alloy steel powderses, when their volume decreased by -24.8% to 2.8K tons. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 3.7K tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, alloy steel powders imports expanded significantly to $14M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +79.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 62%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
